Need some help with the 1950 census?
Apr 07, 2022You’ve probably spent some time over the last several days trying to find people in the 1950 US census (I know I have!).
But it’s not an easy task, especially without a solid index and search tools that we’re used to.
That said, I’ve been creating a variety of videos that address some of the issues and offer solutions and workarounds. Here’s what I’ve posted so far (more coming, so be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel!):
- How to Find Your Family in the 1950 US Census Using the NARA Website
- How To Find & Save 1950 Census Images on Your iPad
- 1950 Census: Can’t Find ‘em? Here Are 4 Potential Reasons Why
- Using Ancestry, FamilySearch & MyHeritage to Find Your Family in the 1950 US Census
I also posted the following videos awhile ago, that may also be of help:
- A Look at the 1950 US Census: What You Need to Know
- Prepping for 1950 US Census Release: Behind the Scenes Look at My Process
I hope that these videos give you some insight and new ideas that you can try out to make your search a little easier.
Now it's time for you to take some action. Each video is about 20-25 minutes long. Pick two that you think would be of most help to you right now and spend an hour watching both. Then use the advice to make some progress on your 1950 US census research.
I hope you enjoyed this article and that you’re ready to make some progress on your 1950 census research. If you found this article helpful, be sure to add the Genealogy In Action blog to your favorite RSS reader.
